Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies
The Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies (PGIPBS) at the University of Kelaniya was originally established as the Vidyalankara Institute of Buddhist Studies on November 23, 1975. It remained under this name until December 30, 1979, when it became affiliated with the Vidyalankara Campus of the University of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). The institute adopted its current name, status, and structure following the enactment of the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies Ordinance No. 8 of 1977, which officially came into effect on January 1, 1980.
